Environment

A Sustainability Pioneer – Fully Committed!

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have a clear impact on global warming, which in turn has numerous consequences for the environment.
We all need to take action!

HUSSON didn’t wait until 2024 to commit to sustainability.
From the very beginning, HUSSON equipment has been recognised for its exceptional durability.

Fully aware of the importance of environmental protection and in order to assess the impact of our activities, we have been committed since 2014 to complying with the internationally recognised standard ISO 14001, with regular audits and certification by an independent organisation.

Our sustainability commitments focus on:

  1. The durability of our products

  2. Reducing our environmental impact

  3. A voluntary Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) approach

1) Our commitments to product durability:

  • Eco-design: Robustness and longevity are deeply rooted in the culture of HUSSON’s design teams. Thanks to their extensive experience, they know that for freely accessible playgrounds, one cannot exist without the other.
There are countless HUSSON-equipped playgrounds still in excellent condition after more than 30 years of use!

  • Equipment resistance: Installed in over forty countries, HUSSON equipment is exposed to complex climate conditions, requiring high-quality materials and top-grade surface treatments.

  • Innovation serving sustainability: HUSSON continuously develops solutions that combine technical excellence and environmental responsibility.

  • The HUSSON modular construction system: Like a giant Meccano set, it is among the most advanced assembly systems in the playground market. It enables fast installation, easy and cost-effective maintenance, and even transformations, dismantling, relocation and reassembly — making reuse of playgrounds possible.

2) Our commitments to reducing our environmental impact

  • Carry out a transparent carbon footprint assessment on a regular basis to monitor and account for our net greenhouse gas emissions – and reduce them.

  • Lower our consumption of energy and raw materials.

  • Conduct objective life cycle assessments (LCA) of our main products to identify and reduce their environmental impact.

  • Prioritise the use of recycled and recyclable raw materials.
For example, steel is now recycled at nearly 100%.
By choosing steel, you are opting for a material that is durable, infinitely recyclable, and already largely recycled.

  • Other examples:
The HDPE polymers used by HUSSON are almost 100% recyclable.
We are investing in R&D to gradually offer durable polymer components made with at least 30% recycled and/or bio-based content and that are fully recyclable.

  • Use renewable materials such as softwoods, bamboo or robinia, and prioritise wood from responsibly managed forests.

  • Design playgrounds in close collaboration with our clients and regional managers to ensure easy integration into a wide variety of environments.

  • Work as much as possible with local suppliers and service providers.

3) Our CSR Commitment: Corporate Social Responsibility

HUSSON has been built on strong values and ethical principles that are part of its DNA.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is therefore a top priority for us, as it reflects our commitment to major environmental, social and economic challenges.

Since 2023, we have been engaged in a voluntary CSR initiative, aiming to strengthen our core values, reduce the negative impacts of our activities on the environment, and enhance the positive effects for all stakeholders — including clients, employees, suppliers and users.
